1. Williams Kumuyi
Williams Kumuyi is one of the most notable figures who attended the University of Ibadan, a South West university.
Williams Kumuyi is the founder and overseer of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, a denominational church originated from Nigeria. Williams Kumuyi is one most renowned religious leader in Nigeria and beyond.
The clergyman graduated from the university in the year 1967 with first class honours in mathematics. The scholar was one of the brightest students in the varsity during his undergraduate days.
2. Wole Soyinka
Wole Soyinka is one of the renowned figures who went to the University of Ibadan. He is known as one of the best poets, playwright and essayist Nigeria ever had.
The award-winning author in 1986 bagged the Nobel Prize in Literature, which made him the first to be honoured in that category in Africa. The Nigerian hails from Abeokuta. Following his schooling in the university of Ibadan, he attended some Foreign universities such as University of Leeds in England among others.
The bestselling author has been a powerful critic of the Nigerian government. It was known that during the administration of General Sani Abacha, the writer fled Nigeria and the then head of state proclaimed a death sentence against him.
3. Eniola Badmus
Eniola Badmus hails from Ogun State. The Nigerian came to the spotlight after featuring in an award-winning movie series titled Jenifa. She kicked off her acting career professionally in 2000. She has been featured in several Yoruba Speaking movies.
The actress has received quite a number of awards and international recognition over the years for her movie talent. In 2011, she won the Best crossover in a film during the Best of Nollywood Awards, and the award of the Best Actress of the Year in Yoruba films, at the City People Entertainment Awards in the year 2014.
4. Olu Jacobs
Olu Jacobs is an alumnus of the University of Ibadan. The professional african actor and movie veteran has featured in over a hundred Nigeria films. He has also starred in some award-winning British television series among others.
Oludotun Baiyewu Jacobs, is of no denying one of the most popular nollywood actors. He's loved and hailed by many. The actor has featured with many local and international actors and actresses such as Patience Ozokwkor, Nkem Owoh, Pete Edocjie etc.
The movie icon is one of the pioneers of Nigeria's movie industry. The popular figure has received several awards and recognition for his talent and contribution to the Nigeria nollywood industry. Olu Jacobs has won prestigious awards such as the Industry Merit Award for during the 2013 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards ceremony etc.
5. Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki
Godwin Obaseki is a renowned politician in Nigeria. He is also a businessman and the executive Governor of Edo State as of 2022. The politician, prior to becoming a governor, was the chairman of the Edo State Economic and Strategy Team which was inaugurated by his predecessor, former Governor Adams Oshiomole sometime in March 2009.
Godwin Obaseki hails from Benin City, Edo State. He did his early education at one St. Matthew's Primary School in Edo State before proceeding to Eghosa Grammar School to finish his secondary school education. The two time governor of his state bagged a bachelor degree from the University of Ibadan Bachelor of Arts Degree in Classics. He later further his education to study at Pace University and The Columbia University etc.
6. Dr SID
Sidney Onoriode Esiri popularly known as Dr SID, is one of the notable music stars who attended the university of Ibadan. The Afrobeats singer and songwriter who started his professional music career in 2002, over the years, won numerous awards and accolades for his takebut and contribution to the Nigerian musical industry.
The Delta born artiste and entertainer did his early education in Nigerian Air force Secondary in Lagos State before proceeding to study Dentistry and Dental Surgery I'm the University. During his undergraduate days, he participated in servel musical events, dance competitions, etc.
7. Ayo Adesanya
Ayo Adesanya is a popular movie actress, a film producer and director. The veteran movie personality is an alumna of the university of Ibadan. Mrs Adesanya started her professional movie career in 1986. And over the years she has been featured in over a hundred Yoruba and English-language films.
The celebrity was born in Ogun State. She attended the St Anne's School in Ibadan for her early education before studying mass communication at the University of Ibadan.
8. Temba Maqubela
Temba Maqubela, a South African educator and administrator is another notable figure who graduated from University of Ibadan.
The South African served as the Dean of Faculty and Assistant Head for Academics at the Phillips Academy in Andover. Following his graduation from the University of Ibadan, he proceeded to study at the University of Kentucky for his master's degree.
9. Bamidele Abiodun
Bamidele Abiodun is another prominent alumna of University of Ibadan. The Nigerian philanthropist and businesswoman is the wife of Dapo Abiodun, a governor in Ogun State, Nigeria.
The wife of the politician is the daughter of former deputy vice chancellor, University of Ibadan, Professor Oladipo Oduye. Bamidele did her early education at The International School, Ibadan before she proceeded to study Zoology at the University of Ibadan in 1988.
10. John Michael Ogidi
General John Michael Ogidi is an alumnus of the university of Ibadan. He's a retired Nigerian Army major general.
Gen Ogidi hails from Ayibabiri Bayelsa State, Nigeria. He went to BDGS Yenagoa secondary school for his early education before being admitted into the Nigerian Defence Academy in June 1979. The notable figure did his master's degree in Strategic Studies from University of Ibadan.
