This article contains a list of top ten universities with the highest number of female students enrolled. This is evaluated by dividing the number of female full time equivalent students by the total full time equivalent students expressed as a percentage.
1. PAMO University of Medical Sciences
PAMO University of Medical Sciences is the number one university with the highest percentage of female students enrolled.
This is a private medical university situated in Port Harcourt, South-South Nigeria. It was established sometime in 2017 making it the first Nigerian medical university.
According to the National Universities Commission, PAMO University of Medical Sciences topped its Ranking of universities with the highest percentage of female students with a score of 70.20 percent.
This private medical varsity was founded by Dr Peter Odili who was a governor of Rivers State. The Ivory tower currently boasts of faculties such as the Clinical Sciences, Allied health sciences and the Basic Medical Sciences.
2. Achievers University
Established in 2007, Achievers University is the second university with the highest percentage of female students' enrolment in Nigeria currently. The ivory tower, which is located in Owo, Ondo, South West, Nigeria, is one of the high ranking private universities in the country.
Number of female students in the university is higher than that of male students in the varsity. This University which was founded by Hon Bode Ayorinde. The tertiary institution as of 2013, was ranked among the top 60 Universities in Nigeria by the National Universities Commission.
3. Lead City University
This is the second private university with the highest percentage of female students. Lead City University which is situated in Ibadan, Oyo State, was established in 2005. The private varsity offers various undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
In November 2021, Lead City University which is the first private University in Oyo State Nigeria, got approval of the National Universities Commission to begin fourteen programmes which includes Dentistry, MBBS, Surveying and Geo-Informatics, Hospitality and Tourism etc.
4. Bayelsa Medical University Yenagoa
This is the first public institution on the list of top ten universities with the highest percentage of female students' enrolment.
Established in August 2018, Bayelsa Medical University Yenagoa was set up to effectively address the lack of medical education and qualified manpower in the health sector in the state and country at large.

The Bayelsa Medical University, in January 2020, matriculated her 208 pioneer students. The founder of the medical University, former Governor Seriake Dickson, described the ivory tower as a fulfilment of a vision and a long term strategic interest and future of Bayelsa State.
The University boasts of about nine fully accredited academic programmes which includes Human Physiology, Biochemistry, Physics, Electronics Human Anatomy etc.
5. Ondo State University of Medical Sciences
Ondo State University of Medical Sciences occupies fifth position as the university with one of the highest percentages of female students’ enrolment.
This is a state government-owned varsity established in the year 2015 in Ondo City, Ondo State, Nigeria. UNIMED became the the third most specialized medical university in the whole of Africa and the first Nigeria's specialized medical University accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC).
6. Chrisland University
Chrisland University, a private University located in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria which was established in 2015, ranked as the sixth varsity with the highest percentage of female students’ enrolment.
It is worth noting that the current Vice-Chancellor of the university is also a female. Her name's Prof Chinedum Peace Babalola. Also, the founder of the institution is a female. She's High Chief Dr. Mrs Winifred A. Awosika, OON. She's the only Nigerian alive to own and run educational institutions from kindergarten to the tertiary institution level.
The university offers courses such as Anatomy, Accounting, biotechnology, criminology and Security Studies among others.
7. Legacy University
Legacy University is another University with the highest percentage of female students' enrolment. This private university is situated at Okija in Anambra State Nigeria.
This South East varsity offers diverse undergraduate as well as post graduate programmes. Some of which includes Microbiology, Biochemistry, Medical Biochemistry, History And International Relations among others.
This institution in 2021, was ranked as the best private University in the South East geopolitical zone. It's also one of top five university in the zone with the highest number of foreign students.
8. Tai Solarin University of Education
This is the number eight university with the highest percentage of female students' enrolment.
This is the only university of education on this list. The Tai Solarin University of Education, established in 2005, is a state government-owned university of education in Nigeria.
The citadel of learning runs a four-year mandatory vocational entrepreneurial study. This university, occupies the number 71 position among the top 100 best universities in Nigeria in 2021 according to the National Universities Commission.
9. Imo State University
Imo State University (IMSU) is another state government owned university with the highest percentage of female students enrolment. The South East ivory tower also came sits on the eight position on the list of universities with the highest percentage of female students' enrolment according to NUC in 2021.
This renowned tertiary institution was established sometime in 1981. The university offers Post Graduate, Masters and Ph.D programmes. Notable female personalities such as Mercy Eke, the BBN Reality TV star, Paschaline Alex Okoli and Uche Elendu amongst others are alumni of institution.

10. Bowen University
Established in July 2001 in Osun State Nigeria, Bowen University besides being among Nigeria's top list of best universities, it's also among the ten top universities with the highest percentage of female students.
This religious university was founded by the Nigerian Baptist Convention. It has over more than 5,000 students and more than ten thousand alumni since its establishment. Key female celebrities such as Mrs Bukky Abaniwonda, a Canadian/Nigerian actress is one of the notable alumni of the university.
