1. Nkem Owoh


Nkem Owoh is one of Nigeria's renowned movie actors and television personalities. The award-winning Nollywood legend is one of the notable figures who graduated from the University of Ilorin. Born on Feb. 1958, the movie personality hails from Enugu State, South Eastern Nigeria. The father of two is the husband of Ngozi Nkem Owoh.

The I Go Chop Your Dollar and Osuofia in London singer did his pre-primary, primary and secondary education in Nsukka, Enugu State before proceeding to study electrical engineering in the University of Ilorin for his bachelor's degree. He's among Nigeria's popular figures who studied electrical engineering.

2. Is-haq Olarewaju Oloyede


Is-haq Oloyede is another popular alumnus of the university of Ilorin. Born in October 1954, the academician hails from Ogun State, South West Nigeria. The renowned scholar is a Professor of Islamics and was a Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin.

In 2022, Oloyede served as the Registrar as well as the Chief Executive of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB. Is-haq Oloyede initially attended the University of Ibadan where he bagged a certificate in Arabic before proceeding to study at the University of Ilorin for his bachelor's of art degree in Arabic. He's among popular Nigerian public figures who studied Arabic.

3. Abdul Rasheed Na'Allah

Abdul Rasheed Na'Allah is a renowned alumnus of the university of Ilorin. The award-winning author, for ten years, administered as the vice chancellor of Kwara State University before being appointed as University of Abuja Vice chancellor.

Abdul Rasheed Na'Allah, in 1988, bagged a bachelor's of art in 1988 from University of Ilorin. Still from the same varsity, received a Master's degree Literature in English in 1992 before proceeding to University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada where he received a PhD in Comparative Literature.

4. Shadrach Adeboye Folarin


Shadrach Adeboye Folarin who is widely known as Shaydee is a vocalist, songwriter and singer. The Nigerian celebrity came to wide recognition after dropping the hit song Won Gbo Mi.

Shaydee, hails from Lagos State, South West Nigeria. He professionally started his musical career in 2008. Over the years, he has won prestigious awards and accolades nationally and internationally.

The young musician reportedly did his early education in Kano State before enrolling for IJMB in Kogi state Polytechnic. He later bagged a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Ilorin.

5. Sarah Omotunde Alade


Sarah Omotunde Alade came to wide recognition after she was appointed by the former president of Nigeria, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, the acting governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria shortly after Sanusi Lamido Sanusi was suspended.

Prior to her appointment to oversee the central banks affairs, Alade served as deputy governor on Economic Policy, at the Central Bank of Nigeria.

Sarah Omotunde Alade, hails from Offa, Kwara State Nigeria. Following her primary, secondary education, she got admitted to study Economics in the University of Ife, Ile-Ife where she bagged a bachelor's degree (Hons) before proceeding abroad to further her studies. The renowned Nigerian, in 1991, got a PhD Management Science in Operations Research from the University of Ilorin.

6. Adenike Oladiji


Professor Adenike Temidayo Oladiji, is one of Nigeria's most popular female Vice-chancellors. The Nigerian academician came to wide recognition after emerging as the first female Vice-chancellor of the Federal University of Technology Akure.

Born in April 1968, the female scholar served under various capacities in the University of Ilorin including Head of Department, Director Center for Research and Development etc prior to her appointment as vice Chancellor.

Adenike Oladiji did her pre-primary and primary education at the Christ Anglican School, Ijomu-Oro and Iludun Oro Nursery and Primary School before proceeding to Anglican Grammar School, Offa for her secondary education. She went to university of Ilorin where she bagged B.Sc in Biochemistry. She also got her MSc in Biochemistry and Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Biochemistry from the same university. She is a renowned alumni of Unilorin.

7. Femi Adebayo


Born in December 1978, Femi Adebayo Salami is one of Nigeria's most popular movie actors and directors. The unilorin alumnus was appointed Special Adviser to the executive Governor of Kwara State on Arts, Culture and Tourism.

The son of the veteran actor, Adebayo Salami is also a lawyer before he dived into movie acting in 1985. The Kwara-born film actor did his secondary school at the CandS College before attending the University of Ilorin, and later bagged a bachelor's degree in Law. 


Adebayo, over the years, has won prestigious awards and accolades both home and abroad. He has featured with many Nigerian actors and actresses in over a hundred movies. The public figure is officially married to Omotayo Adebayo.

8. Lasisi Elenu


Another notable university of Ilorin alumnus is Lasisi Elenu. The Nigerian is widely known as a comedian and artiste. He's nationally and internationally known for his hilarious comedy skits in which he often uses a 'wide mouth' disguise filter.

The unilorin alumnus has received quite a number of awards and nominations for his creativity and talent. Sometime in 2020, the actor was named one of Nigeria's Top 25 Under–30 Superstars.

The skit maker graduated from the University of Ilorin with a BSc Ed. in Health Promotion and Environmental Health Education.

9. Johnson Bamidele Olawumi


Johnson Bamidele Olawumi is a Major General of the Nigerian army. The unilorin alumnus served as Director General of the National Youth Service Corps.

Olawumi hails from Ekiti State, Southwestern Nigeria. After his pre primary education, he went to Army Children School, Mokola in Ibadan where he did his primary school before proceeding to study at the CAC Grammar School, Akure in Ondo State for his secondary education.

In 1988, the public figure obtained a bachelor's degree in mathematics for the Nigerian Defence Academy before proceeding for his master's degree to study mechanical engineering.

10. Opeoluwa Sotonwa


Another notable alumni of the university of Ilorin is the Ijebu-Ode bornOpeoluwa Sotonwa. He's a literary writer and disability rights activist. Sometime in early 2021, he was appointed by Governor Charles Baker to serve as the agency and commissioner to the physically challenged. Sotonwa graduated with an LLB degree from the University of Ilorin in 2005.
