1. Yetunde Onanuga
Born 11 September 1960, Yetunde Onanuga is a politician and former deputy governor of Ogun state, Nigeria under the party of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the year 2015 to 2019. Yetunde Onanuga is one of the renowned alumni of the Lagos State Polytechnic.
Yetunde Onanuga replaced Prince Segun Adesegun as deputy governor of the state. It's also on record that Mrs Onanuga was the second female to be appointed into the office of the deputy governor since the establishment of Ogun State in 1976. Before her appointment, Onanuga served as a director of finance in the ministry of Environment.
Mrs Yetunde Onanuga holds HND in Business Administration from the Lagos state School of Science and Technology, Isolo. Years later, she received a Masters degree in Business Administration from the Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU).
Yetunde Onanuga is originally from Aparaki, Ijebu Igbo in Ijebu North LGA. Her elder sister, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, is the Managing Director of Independent Communication Network, as well as the publisher at PM News.
2. Alice Iyabo Ojo
Alice Iyabo Ojo is another prominent alumna of the Lagos State Polytechnic. The movie actress, who's also a film producer and director, has won prestigious awards and accolades nationally and internationally.
Iyabo Ojo was born in Lagos State. She originally hails from Abeokuta, Ogun State. She has two other siblings. Ojo studied Estate Management at the Lagos State Polytechnic.
Iyabo Ojo has been featured in over a hundred movies. She started acting far back in 1998. The actress has featured in movies with many other prominent actors and actresses such as Alex Usifo, Fathia Balogun, Baba Darijinwon, among others.
3. Adekunle Almoruf Kosoko
Adekunle Kosoko is a renowned Nigerian singer, songwriter and music producer. He is widely known as AG Baby or Adekunle Gold. The singer came to wide recognition in 2015 following his song titled Sade. The Afrobeats artiste has won an incredible number of awards over the years for his musical talent.
The Lagos-born singer hails from a royal family based in Lagos. He was born on 28, January 1987. He did his primary and secondary education in Nigeria, including his tertiary education. The artiste graduated from Lagos State Polytechnic with a Higher National Diploma in Arts and Design
In October 2021, the Award-winning singer announced that his fourth studio album would be released soon. He made it known via his verified Instagram page while also appreciating his fans following his global tour.
4. Kunle Afolayan
Kunle Afolayan is another most remarkable celebrity who attended the Lagos State Polytechnic, LASPOTECH. The young Nigerian is an award-winning actor, movie producer and director.
Afolayan Hails, from Kwara State. His father Ade Love, is also a theatre and film director. Prior to his movie career, Afolayan worked in a bank for several years before diving into acting. He has produced quite a number of movies that featured great actors and actresses such as Chika Okpala, Joke Silva and Wale Ojo,
The Lagos State Polytechnic alumnus, in 2021, struck a deal with Netflix to make three feature films which includes a screen adaptation of Sefi Atta's book Swallow, among others
In July 2022, Kunle Afolayan’s 2020 film “Citation”, bagged its first award on the international scene. The film bagged the ‘Best International Film’ at the National Film Awards which was sponsored by Rosa Faizzad, United Kingdom.
5. Bisi Onasanya
Olabisi Stephen Onasanya is widely known as the former Chief Executive Officer and Group Managing Director of First Bank of Nigeria Limited. The chartered accountant, prior to his job at the First Bank, was appointed as the Managing Director of First Pension Custodian.
Stephen Olabisi Onasanya was born on August 18, 1961. He's from Ijebu Land, Ogun State. Olabisi grew up in Lagos Nigeria where he did his early and primary secondary education. He completed his secondary education at Eko Boys High School in Mushin, before proceeding to study at the Lagos Polytechnic.
6. Ayo Gbeleyi
Ayo Gbeleyi is the Managing Partner of GA Capital Limited. The chartered accountant is also a Fellow of both the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), and an MBA at the University of Navarra IESE in Spain.
In January 2022, President Muhammadu Buhari approved the appointment of Mr Gbeleyi to serve as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Federal Mortgage of the Bank of Nigeria.
7. Ademola Oyefeso
Ademola Oyefeso, is the chief executive officer of New Genesis. No doubt, the Nigerian is among the well-known personalities in the entertainment industry. His numerous exploits in the showbiz world has got him accolades nationally and internationally.
Ademola Oyefeso, who's the Staten Island, New York–based showbiz advocate has over the years, contributed greatly to the Nigerian entertainment industry. As President of Egbe Omo Yoruba in New York, Oyefeso has demonstrated a unique leadership quality admired by many.
8. Kunle Akinrinade
Kunle Akinrinade, is a renowned writer and journalist. The columnist currently serves as The Nation Newspaper Chief Correspondent. In December 2021, Kunle Akinrinade was named the Nigerian Investigative Journalist of the Year at the 16th Wole Soyinka Award for Investigative Reporting and as Journalist of the Year at the event.
9. Funmi Babington-Ashaye
Funmi Babington-Ashaye is another notable alumna of the Lagos State Polytechnic. Mrs. Babington-Ashaye currently serves as the Managing Director and chief executive officer of Risk Analyst Insurance Brokers Limited. The insurance expert was the former Chief Executive Officer of NICON Insurance PLC and Cornerstone Insurance PLC.
10. Yinka Mursiq Durosinmi
Yinka Mursiq Durosinmi is another notable politician who graduated from the Institution. The Nigerian bagged his National Diploma (ND) as well his Higher National Diploma(HND) certificates in Business Administration from the Lagos Polytechnic.
